AHH I'M SO EXCITED FOR YOU GUYS! You guys are going to have so much fun there! I think when I went to the Colosseum, our tour guide said something about you can pay an extra 8 euros to go underneath and see the elevator systems. I think that's what she said anyway; her little microphone box thingy was cutting out at the beginning. There are guys dressed up as gladiators that you can get your picture taken with and they charge 5 euros for three pictures; the best one that I saw was in front of the Trevi Fountain. He even let me wear his hat (over the hat I was wearing or else that wasn't happening haha) and let me hold his sword, too (get yer mind out of the gutter). Also? The Tuscan landscape is gorgeous and the food there is AMAZING and the Giotto is awe-inspiring.
